Broom Street actor recovering well from opening night heart attack

Local actor Callen Harty gave new meaning to the phrase "the show must go on" when he completed a performance while having a heart attack on Friday. Harty, 51, is the artistic director of Broom Street Theater on Williamson Street. His niece, Lauri Harty, was directing him in "Dancing With My Other" by Kathie Rasmussen. more >>

'The Wiz' gets funky at Edgewood

Frank Baum's fantastic trip through Oz inspired "The Wiz," a 1975 musical with an all-black cast. Madison Ballet: 'Nutcracker' will go on, with or without WCO

For the first time in 28 years, Madison Ballet is unsure who will play in the pit for "The Nutcracker" this December. That's even though negotiations are going well between the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and its musicians, who have been on strike since Oct. 1. The musicians' union and the staff of the orchestra recently came to a temporary agreement to play their Holiday Pops concerts on Nov. 29 and 30 in Middleton. more >>
